Where does the "Encounters at Wheatley"-show go? We spent months in preparing this exciting contemporary sculpture event and opened it for 4 hours only. 600 people came. But whoever did not see it: a documentation of the event will be exhibited at the Link Gallery in the John Radcliffe Hospital. Open for everybody (you don't have to feel sick), and also open every day round the clock. It is best accessible via car park 1. The show "Encounters at John Radcliffe Hospital" will open this weekend.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.notfamousyet.co.uk/home/2010/6/15/thanks-to-all.html"><rss:title>Thanks to all</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.notfamousyet.co.uk/home/2010/6/15/thanks-to-all.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Thanks to the ten artists, the 600 visitors, the splendid support crew, the musicians on Sunday, and last but not least the sun who stayed until 6pm. At 6.05 the rain came with a bang.

He was inspired by Wheatley's village lock-up, built in 1834.

This mini prison can be found near the edge of the old quarry site. It has a heavy padlocked door and the floor space is about six feet square with a headroom of about eight feet. In the 19th century it was used to lock up drunks overnight before sending them to the Oxford court. More recently it has been opened every May Day. For a small charge visitors can be locked up for five minutes or so, and given a certificate to prove it.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.notfamousyet.co.uk/home/2010/5/21/under-the-mulberry-tree.html"><rss:title>Under the Mulberry Tree</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.notfamousyet.co.uk/home/2010/5/21/under-the-mulberry-tree.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Three weeks left until the opening of "Encounters". Ellie Reid is taking the measurements for her installation under the Mulberry Tree. It will be a construction of wooden colored panels. This might not sound very interesting to you. But have a look at the work that Ellie does and this will change you mind.

We are now preparing the garden event in Wheatley. Michi Suzuki is wrapping her ceramic sculptures "Fallen Memento" to be picked up for the show: large natural forms, a soft white - they will look great at Wheatley.

They are larger and heavier (up to 30kg!) than I imagined.
Quite a big of crowd was attending Katy Beinard's performance at Barracks Lane Garden. People were following the map to find the 'hidden plant' in the garden in the Origination installation. But it was even more interesting to follow Katy's performance about the culture of bread.

The bread culture that Katy used was already widely travelled. It had went even to South Africa. You could take a swallow of it, or - like me - just enjoy the nice sourdough bread baked in the oven at Barracks Garden.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.notfamousyet.co.uk/home/2010/5/6/the-breadmaking-suitcase.html"><rss:title>The Breadmaking Suitcase</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.notfamousyet.co.uk/home/2010/5/6/the-breadmaking-suitcase.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

This is the breadmaking suitcase of artist Katy Beinart. It is all packed and ready to go for the performance on Sunday, 9th of May, 2 to 5pm. The culture for the bread is already waiting and slightly rising in expectation. We are expecting a nice crowd of guests at the Barracks Lane Community Garden.
We are nearly there! Preparation for Katy Beinart's installation and performance at the Barrack Community Garden, 8 and 9 of May, is in full swing. The different seedlings are found and asked to cooperate and grow. Bergenia crassifolia (Nicholaus Filaratoff) is doing this steadily and will be at its best in a week. So we hope.

Katy is preparing the culture for the bread. Confused?
I really love the 5 storey mural by Michael Craig-Martin at the John Radcliff Hospital. Created especially for kids who are treated here and who can actually glimpse it through their window. But everbody actually is invited to come, have a coffee and enjoy.

Found Treasures – 8 and 9th of May – will be an exciting event: Visitors will be able to experience an installation and a performance by artist Katy Beinart. In her work Katy is exploring themes of migration, identity and cultural adaptation.

Her installation - throughout the garden - is using a dozen plants. The plant labels refer to person, journey and plant, making metaphorical connections between the intentional migrations and accidental transferral of plants by humans in their journeys.

On Sunday afternoon everybody is invited to take part in Katy's performance “Starter Culture”. The artists will offer bread and salt to the visitors in order to re-create the ritual of Khlebosolny, an Eastern European Jewish ritual observed at the crossing of a threshold to a new home.
