Now you see it
24 Jul to 7 Aug 2009

Notfamousyet is pleased to present three outstanding female artists, Nina Fandler, Julie Monaco, Barbara Petzold, in an outstanding place.
“Now you see it” shows the work of three young emerging female artists who – each in her own way – discuss in their work the secrets of reality.
While the show is initially hosted in an empty, rough shop in the busy centre of Oxford, a two day event takes place in the secret atmospheric location of Bartlemas chapel in Oxford. wilderness.’
The artists’ work fit into the programme:
Nina Fandler plays with the vision of reality by using staged reflections and hidden images. Her buses, ships, escalators, trams and cars seem to transport hopes, aspirations and dreams; depictions of people are not required.
Julie Monaco creates something that on first view look like elaborated landscape pictures: powerful waves, daunting clouds. But there is something strange: light and dark are arranged in an extraordinary fashion that nature would never be able to achieve. Monaco constructs each work from scratch with computer software, not painting reality, but coding an image.
Barbara Petzold takes you on a voyage where dreams seem to be close, teasing our unconscious longings for a life that is filled with poetry. In her paintings she creates the impression of snapshots: people in a bar, in the woods, in the sun; brief moments in which the situation, the feeling of the moment is the story of the picture.
