Untitled, 72 x 84 cm, oil on linen, 2009

My paintings are about the physical understanding of awkward movements and great cycles, such as falling and floating, wind, rain and tides. While they flirt with representation the paintings cannot be wholly described, as they are as much about a physical engagement as they are a considered illustration. I layer, scrub out and rotate the large canvases. While a painting may derive from a single memory, over the months that I work on it, an entirely different narrative is created.
